Dr. Leslie Mancuso is the President and CEO of Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization that is affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. For 42 years and in 155 countries, Jhpiego has worked with front-line health workers to design and implement low-cost, innovative solutions to prevent the needless death of women and their families.

Director of Family Planning and Reproductive Health, and Cervical Cancer Prevention (CECAP) Programs
With expertise in cervical cancer, infection prevention, sexually transmitted infections, family planning and maternal and newborn care, Dr. Lu has helped develop national reproductive health training systems in more than a dozen countries across the globe. Dr. Lu leads Jhpiego’s efforts to advocate and implement evidence-based approaches to cervical cancer prevention in low-resource settings.
Director of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases
Ms. Curran is Jhpiego’s Director of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases and a recognized expert in the field. Her work in Africa has focused on scaling up HIV counseling and testing and voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC). She has overseen Jhpiego’s VMMC work in 11 countries. Jhpiego-supported programs have resulted in more than 1 million circumcisions as part of comprehensive HIV-prevention efforts.
Tigistu Adamu Ashengo
Associate Medical Director, Technical Leadership Office
Dr. Adamu is a public health and clinical expert in the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS. As a trainer and advocate, he has led extensive efforts to develop strategies for voluntary medical male circumcision and the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
Senior Malaria Specialist
Dr. Brieger is Jhpiego’s Senior Malaria Specialist and a professor at The Johns Hopkins University. His work focuses on health education, community participation, malaria, primary health care, training, program evaluation and qualitative methods.
Director of the Global Learning Office
Dr. Johnson leads the global learning team in supporting the education and training dimensions of Jhpiego’s projects around the world. This includes developing strategic approaches to training and pre-service education, overseeing trainer development, instructional design and monitoring and evaluation of training efforts. As an expert nurse and midwife, Dr. Johnson also leads Jhpiego’s nurses and midwives in efforts to strengthen the global nursing and midwifery workforce.
Senior Technical Advisor
Ms. Bluestone is a nurse-midwife. She provides leadership and technical assistance for pre-service education and in-service training programs for medical, nursing and midwifery schools. She also works to revise national nursing and midwifery curriculums for skills training and evaluation of tutors and preceptors and training.

Dr. Necochea’s expertise is in health programs and services management and quality management. Co-developer of the Standards-Based Management and Recognition (SBM-R®) approach for performance and quality improvement, Dr. Necochea has done extensive work on human capacity development, including performance support systems, supervision, deployment and incentives, information systems and workplace safety and health.

Ms. Pfitzer is a public health professional with experience in program design, implementation and evaluation of health service delivery and human capacity building. She serves as the Family Planning Team Leader for USAID’s flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP).
Alice T. Liu, MBA
Director, Digital Health
Ms. Liu is responsible for the strategy, development and implementation of health system strengthening digital health interventions for program initiatives in limited-resource environments. Ms. Liu has worked in digital development for global health, financial services (mobile money), and agriculture and previously worked in the tech sector in California.
